21 October 2025

It’s been a standout year for 16-year-old, 6 foot 3 inch local boxer Eddie Large, whose determination and discipline have propelled him through the amateur ranks to become one of Yorkshire’s brightest young talents.

In just twelve months, the rising star from H Hour Boxing Gym has built an impressive record:

  • Earning Bronze at the National Development Championships
  • Being crowned Yorkshire Champion in May,
  • In September, clinching the title of Regional Development Champion, dominating across the East Midlands, North West, and North East regions.

Eddie’s success has been forged through relentless hard work — from 10k runs through Harrogate and Knaresborough, to late-night gruelling training sessions under the guidance of his dedicated coaches of Mateusz Daroszewski, Dan Flack, Matty Cullen, and Ben Harriss.

The coaches have all devoted countless hours to mentoring and training boys and girls of all ages, building not only boxing skills but also discipline, confidence, and character.

Their dedication shines through in the achievements of young fighters like Eddie, who benefit from their experience and commitment every single day.

Despite the string of recent successes, there’s no sign of Eddie slowing down. Rather than taking a well-earned rest, he’s already back in the gym with his gloves on and eyes firmly fixed on his next challenge.

Keith Large, speaking about his son:

What a journey, he’s had an incredible twelve months, and even though he just came home with bronze at the Nationals, we know this is just the start.

The family moto is Never Give In.
