King James School help pilot scheme for better careers guidance

In North Yorkshire, schools are developing and broadening these aspirations as a motivation for learning by placing career guidance at the heart of the curriculum.
A pilot funded by North Yorkshire County Council and the York, North Yorkshire and East Riding Local Enterprise Partnership, has involved 20 secondary schools across the county and York to improve careers guidance.
This has led to a close working relationship between schools and local employers with careers guidance increasingly woven into the curriculum. It also places North Yorkshire well ahead in meeting the Government’s recent schools careers strategy and statutory requirements which will require workplace experience for every pupil.
Students at King James School Knaresborough, one of the pilot schools, are frequently reminded of where their learning might lead.

BBC Look North sofa prepare for an eight-day charity push around Yorkshire

The BBC Look North sofa, prepared for an eight-day charity push around Yorkshire, started off with a fitness test against three of the teams entered for the 2018 Great Knaresborough Bed Race.
The sofa, pushed by BBC presenters Harry Gration, Amy Garcia and Paul Hudson, took part in time and fitness trials against the beds on Wednesday 13 March at Conyngham Hall, start and finish venue of the great Knaresborough event.

Morrisons Supermarket acquires Knaresborough egg business

Morrisons has acquired Chippindale Foods, a leading supplier of free range eggs, based in Flaxby near Knaresborough.
The acquisition means that Morrisons will make even more of its own fresh food and become more competitive for customers on these important everyday products. It will also bring forward the date at which all Morrisons eggs will come from non-caged hens from the current commitment of 2025.
