Elieen Ferguson, a former Knaresborough Town Mayor has passed away aged 95.
Serving for over 30 years on the Town Council as an independent member, Eileen was the Mayor of Knaresborough on three occasions, in 1983, 1992 and 1995.
In addition to her involvement on the Town Council she was also active on various committees including Bebra Town Twinning, The Knaresborough Civic Society, The Royal British Legion, Knaresborough Relief in Need and Age Concern Knaresborough.
Philip Allott who also served on the Knaresborough Town Council alongside Mrs Ferguson said:
Eileen was a stalwart of the local community who gave her time for free. She was a passionate town advocate and supporter of all things Knaresborough.
For many years she lived on Stockwell Drive, Knaresborough and always had people coming to see her with local problems, which she worked hard to resolve for them.
She had a great sense of humour, and her smile and warmth has brightened up many a cold civic Sunday morning.
