Your Housing Group, one of the UK’s largest housing associations, has launched the Young Person’s Bursary Fund for 2015/16 available to anyone aged 14-25 years who lives in one of their 80 properties in Harrogate.
- Your Housing Group was established in April 2012 following the merger of two North West based housing providers. It is now one of the UK’s largest social housing providers with more than 33,000 homes across the North West, Yorkshire and the Midlands and over 1,300 employees. The head office is in Birchwood, Warrington.
The Young People’s Bursary, now in its third year, aims to help young people achieve their career goals, by giving grants to help their residents access work, training and further education. Funding can be used for a range of things such as support packages and starter packs for college or university, help with travel costs and or equipment, bus passes, volunteer expenses, bike and bike safety gear, laptop and IT equipment, driving costs, driving lessons, and job interview clothes.
Sarah Mitten, Community Projects Manager at Your Housing Group said: Our Young Person’s Bursary is now into its third year and we’ve so far helped 170 young people who live in our properties. The fund is designed to help with costs related to education, employment and training, or to develop a skill or interest in volunteering, music or sport. This bursary is to support our young residents to meet their goals, and does not have to be paid back.
