Easter changes to waste and recycling service – including garden waste

Harrogate Borough Council is reminding residents that there will be changes to their waste and recycling collection dates over the Easter holidays.

There will be no collections on Good Friday 30 March and Easter Monday 2 April, and for some customers collections will be earlier than their normal schedule.

Chris Difford, The Acoustic Book Tour, comes to Harrogate

March 2018 sees Chris on tour with Boo Hewerdine on his extensive ‘Some Fantastic Acoustic Book Tour’ The dates take them to Ireland, Scotland, Wales and all over the UK. An American tour is also being planned for May. Beyond the touring there is a paperback version of the book coming out with an extra chapter carefully composed as a bonus read. Chris will regale the audience about some of the key events in his life in music from his autobiography ‘Some Fantastic Place’ and perform some of his biggest hits acoustically alongside tracks from ‘Pants’, a best of album featuring songs from a stage play created by Chris and Boo Hewerdine a couple of years ago. Both album and book will be available to buy at the show.

Following recent house fire in Harrogate, firefighters urge people to check their smoke alarms

Following a recent house fire in the Harrogate District, firefighters from Harrogate Fire Station are urging people to check their smoke alarms.

Harrogate Station Manager Rich Hanley said:

Crews recently attended a house fire in the Harrogate area during the early hours of the morning. There were working smoke alarms that woke the family and they managed to get out.

Biker guilty of perverting the course of justice after covering number plate

A 55-year-old man from Bolton has appeared at Bradford Crown Court today (Friday 16 March 2018) and pleaded guilty to perverting the course of justice and exceeding the speed limit.

On Sunday 2 July 2017 at around 11.45am Geoffrey Alan Davies of Plodder Lane, Farnworth, Bolton was captured travelling at 86 miles per hour by a North Yorkshire Police safety camera van, whilst riding his Yamaha R1 motorbike along the B6479 at Selside near Ribblehead,  a road with a 60 miles per hour limit
