Nidderdale Plus seeks volunteers

7 October 2013

An organisation whose aim is to support businesses and community organisations in the Washburn Valley, Nidderdale and Mashamshire areas is seeking to boost the number of volunteers on its books.

Nidderdale Plus is looking for individuals of all ages to help deliver its services, in addition to promoting the area to a wide audience.

Last month saw the team launching its “We Love Nidderdale” social media campaign at the Nidderdale Show, which has been created by volunteer Katherine Simpson.

Katherine, a 21-year-old university undergraduate from Darley, came up with the idea – where residents and visitors are asked to photograph a “We Love Nidderdale” sign alongside their favourite Nidderdale view, place, product or person – as a way of engaging with a younger audience.

Nidderdale Plus manager Katy Penn said:

We are always seeking volunteers to help us develop our services and to ensure our Pateley Bridge office remains open five days a week for residents’ and visitor queries.

Our Board of Directors is also made up of volunteers. We seek to have a good mix of skills around the table, including marketing, finance and IT. “Volunteers get the opportunity to use their skills by giving practical help, as well as influencing the activities of the organisation.
