Harrogate Railway Ladies make history

18 August 2015

Harrogate Railway Ladies had another busy pre-season fixture on Sunday, with an 11-a-side tournament in Tingley.

The format was simple, two groups of five teams with the winner of each group was champion.

Railway won one, drew two and lost the remaining game. Each game threw up different challenges for the railway squad. With new players still finding their feet, including a new reserve keeper playing in her first competitive match.
There is much for the management to feel confident about with one more friendly to play before the competitive season starts on the 30th August at Station View, Harrogate against Sheffield United in the League Cup.

There is still much to sharpen up on within the team and with new players coming to the next training session, competition for places is going to be tough with a squad already numbering 21 signed players.

After the league cup on the 30th the Railway Ladies find themselves playing in the FA Cup, this is a first for the team, as Harrogate Railway have never been in a high enough league position to be accepted into the competition.
