Roosters raise a glass to local charity

17 July 2018

Real ale drinkers across Yorkshire will be raising vital funds for a local Harrogate charity with every sip of Rooster’s annual fundraising beer this summer.

The Harrogate Easier Living Project (HELP) has been chosen as the beneficiary of this year’s sales of Rooster’s annual charity fundraising beer, White Rose. The independent brewery, based in Knaresborough, hopes to raise over £850 for the charity, which helps older and vulnerable people to stay safe and well supported at home with a range of services aimed at supporting their independence.

Tom Fozard, Commercial Manager at Rooster’s Brewing Co, who will be donating 10p for every pint of White Rose sold to HELP and is pleased to be supporting a small, independent charity this year. He said:

We are a small, family-owned business, with our roots in Harrogate and use sales of White Rose, which we brew once a year to coincide with Yorkshire Day on August 1st, to help support a different Yorkshire-based charity and we’re delighted to be able to offer our support to the Harrogate Easier Living project this time around. White Rose is being delivered to various pubs within the Harrogate area, throughout Yorkshire and beyond over the next couple of weeks, so we hope you’ll join us in raising a glass, all the while helping to support a truly worthwhile cause in the process. Cheers!

Rooster’s will be launching the beer at their Annual Open Day at the brewery this Saturday 21 July offering food, brewery tours and of course, great beer.

Frances Elliot, Head of Practical Support Services at HELP, said:

The opportunity to partner with Roosters in this imaginative and fun way is a great boost for our small charity. Not only will the fundraising make a direct impact on our services, the platform to promote our services to a wider audience is a massive opportunity. We are very grateful to Rooster’s, a company with fantastic community credentials and a strong Yorkshire brand, to choose us as their charity this year. As demand for our service grows and money becomes ever tighter, support from local businesses like Rooster’s has an increasingly important role to play in the continuation of our work.

Over the past 12 months, HELP has carried out 355 gardening, decorating and DIY jobs for people who can’t manage the tasks themselves, organised over 450 outings for older and disabled people to help tackle social isolation and provided over 5,000 journeys for local people who cannot access public transport due to mobility, cost or location. HELP is supported by a team of over dedicated 100 volunteers who give their time to help people maintain their independence.
