Northallerton police have issued moving CCTV of some members of the public they want to trace following a serious assault in the town.
The incident happened In the early hours of Sunday 15 June 2014, after the victim, a man in his thirties from Northallerton, had been enjoying a night out after watching the England v Italy game during the World Cup.
The CCTV was taken as members of the public walked across the Forum car park just before 3am. The images show a group of four men who were seen walking in front of the victim and a man a woman who were walking behind the victim a short time later.
There is no suggestion that the members of the public were involved in the incident, but they could have vital information which could help the investigation. Even if they did not witness the assault, their information could still be useful to officers who are working to get justice for the victim.
The man was attacked at around 3am, as he was making his way along Bullamoor Road into Elm Grove. He was punched to the side of his head and fell to ground where he was kicked in the face. He sustained a serious eye injury during the assault and was taken to James Cook Hospital in Middlesbrough where he underwent surgery to insert a plate. It is still not known whether he has suffered any permanent damage to his sight.
