Public can help shape local NHS services in Harrogate district

hospitalHarrogate and Rural District Clinical Commissioning Group (HaRD CCG) is seeking members of the public to sign up to its new public involvement network; HaRD Net, ahead of its first major public involvement event next month.

The CCG, which took over responsibility for commissioning local health services on 1 April 2013, is asking members of the public to sign up so they can be involved in the development of NHS services in their area.

This comes ahead of the CCG’s inaugural public involvement forum, entitled “Seeking Your Experience” which takes place from 6.30pm on Tuesday 2 July at the Majestic Hotel, Ripon Road, Harrogate HG1 2HU.

Amanda Bloor, Chief Officer at Harrogate and Rural District CCG, said:

We are fully committed to involving people in developing local health services. During 2012/13 whilst we were in ‘shadow form’ we spent time talking to people about the best way to do this. Since we took over responsibility for commissioning local health services those plans have been set in motion.

We’re asking people to sign up to our network so we can keep in touch with them and invite them to help shape our local NHS services. That might mean filling in surveys, attending meetings or participating in focus groups.

We want to make sure the services we develop are based on people’s genuine experiences and feedback. The HaRD Net will help us do that.

We’ll be talking to people about shaping local services at our first public involvement forum on 2 July. We’ll be holding these events twice a year and it’s a great opportunity for us to engage with people about their experiences.

Karen Weaver, Chief Executive of the Harrogate & Ripon Centres for Voluntary Service, said:

We’ve been working closely with the CCG as they have developed their public engagement plans and we’re fully supportive of their approach. We look forward to working with them as they continue to develop as an organisation and helping them to connect with patients, carers and voluntary services in the locality.
