Last call for free insulation

6 June 2012

Harrogate Borough Council and Yorkshire Energy Partnership have extended the offer for free loft and cavity wall insulation for ALL residents in the district – following a successful take-up in the area, with an estimated £14,295 collectively saved on annual fuel bills.

The ‘Wrapping up Yorkshire’ scheme which aims to tackle fuel poverty, keep houses warmer has seen almost 150 residents receiving free insulation, which has been quick and easy to install.

This insulation makes their homes warmer and residents use less fuel. So far the Harrogate district fuel savings from the Wrapping up Yorkshire scheme equate to a whopping 1948 tonnes of carbon savings – which really helps towards Harrogate’s goal to become a greener district.

Councillor Mike Chambers, Harrogate Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Housing hopes that more residents sign up to receive their free insulation – whilst funding lasts:

According to the Energy Saving Trust, a house can lose up to 60 per cent of its heating through its walls and roof – and insulation can help householders save up to £310* per year on their energy bills. By insulating, residents will be saving money, protecting against the loss of heat they pay for and reducing their carbon footprint in the process. There’s no catch – it’s simply a case of calling Yorkshire Energy Partnership on 01904 55 44 06 to arrange a free survey. The scheme is open to all private homeowners in the borough, including landlords .
