The North Yorkshire Authority met today to consider a request from Chief Constable Maxwell for an extension of his fixed term appointment.

The Authority has decided not to accede to that request.

The Authority has every confidence that CC Maxwell will continue to lead well until May next year when his current fixed term appointment expires.

The detailed reasons for this decision and other matters relating to it are of a private and personal nature and therefore NYPA will make no further public comment on the matter.
