Transdev to add extra buses on three routes as schools prepare to return

Transdev says changes to routes serving Harrogate, Knaresborough, Wetherby and Pateley Bridge will help to ensure plenty of space is available on board its buses for safe social distancing.

Transdev is to add extra buses on three routes as schools prepare to return.

The bus firm says the changes to routes serving Harrogate, Knaresborough, Wetherby and Pateley Bridge will help to ensure plenty of space is available on board its buses for safe social distancing.

Improvements on Sundays are being introduced in response to valued feedback from customers.

Timetables on the following services will change from this Sunday, 7 March 2021:

  • The 1: Harrogate – Starbeck – Knaresborough: The dedicated S1 student service from Harrogate and Starbeck to King James School will be reinstated, with journeys on this service reserved for students only. Meanwhile extra trips will run on Sunday mornings, in response to customer feedback.
  • The 7: Harrogate – Wetherby – Leeds: Timetables on Monday to Friday will go back to pre-lockdown service levels, with a bus every 30 minutes throughout the whole route, plus an hourly service on Saturdays and a bus every 90 minutes on Sundays.
  • The 24: Harrogate – Pateley Bridge: Monday to Friday timetables will return to pre-lockdown frequencies, with seven journeys each way throughout the route. School day trips to St Aidan’s and St John Fisher schools will resume, while a coach showing service number S24 will also be provided by North Yorkshire County Council, to create extra capacity especially for students travelling from Nidderdale.

General Manager Frank Stanisauskis said:

With the return of students to our local schools and colleges, it’s important that we ensure that all our buses remain clean, safe and ready to go as they have been throughout the pandemic, as we ensure we’re there when our customers need us for essential travel.

Together with the schools and colleges, we’re asking students to use the additional buses set aside for them – the S1 from Harrogate and Starbeck to King James School in Knaresborough, and the S24 from Pateley Bridge and the Nidderdale villages to Harrogate and on to St Aidan’s and St John Fisher schools. All usual Transdev and The Harrogate Bus Company passes will be accepted on these dedicated student buses.
