Visit Harrogate social media success

31 May 2016

For the second year running Visit Harrogate has scored highly in the English Tourism Social Media Index.

It has maintained its 3rd position in the Yorkshire and Humber region and jumping eight places (from 24th to 16th out of 129) in the country since last year.

Michael Newby, Director of Visit Harrogate, said:

This is great news.

We have put a lot of effort into our digital marketing. It is wonderful that our small team should have achieved this level of success in the face of competition from some much bigger destinations.

It is a reflection of a lot of hard work put in by the Visit Harrogate team.

We use social media a lot to promote our partners’ activities and publicise special offers.

Competitions are a regular feature of our Facebook page and the photographs and albums of our beautiful District are always very popular.

Our social media has grown considerably since last year; Facebook Likes have doubled and we have seen a 50% increase in Twitter followers.

Each month this year has also seen thousands more people visiting our website compared to the same month in 2015.

Interest in the Harrogate District is certainly increasing.
