Tockwith Show to reflect 70 years of history

29 July 2015

Visitors to this weekend’s Tockwith Show will have the chance to step back in time thanks to a display of 1940s memorabilia.

Celebrating the event’s 70th anniversary this year, Tockwith and District Agricultural Society has organised an exhibition of agricultural and home memorabilia from the Hesketh Collection.

Show chairman Lisa Chasney said:

Having the exhibition at this year’s show is a real honour and will allow visitors to learn more about what life was like during the 1940s, when Tockwith Show first took place.

As well as looking back at history, we will of course be celebrating the thriving community around us in 2015, so we will have the usual great mix of animals, crafts, competitions, classes, displays and local food and drink. There’s something for all ages and plenty of chances to take part in crafts and activities for free, so it’s a brilliant day out for all the family.

We hope to have even more visitors with us than usual as we celebrate our 70th anniversary.

The event takes place on the show field at Cattal Moor Lane, Tockwith, on Sunday, August 2. The first classes are at 8.30am and the show ends at 5pm with the President’s Auction, raising money for Show President Stuart Coggrave’s chosen charity, Macmillan Cancer Support.

The full schedule for both days is available from the website, Tickets are £8 for adults, while children aged 16 and under go free.
