A Harrogate-based specialist tax advisory business has chosen an organisation that provides personalised care, support and companionship to a wide range of individuals, as its chosen Charity of the Year.
Independent Tax and Forensic Services LLP – set up by former HMRC tax inspectors Gary Brothers and Stephen Outhwaite – has opted to partner with award-winning Avalon, after being introduced to them, and the work they do, at a recent client event.
The charity, which is based on Harrogate’s Grove Park Court and this year celebrates its 20th anniversary, employs more than 450 members of staff working across North Yorkshire, Wakefield, Kirklees, Teesside, and more recently The Wirral.
It has recently been awarded the Investors in People accreditation for its commitment to both the Learning & Development and wellbeing of its employees, as well as the Independent Specialist Care 2013 award.
Carers at Avalon give support to a wide range of individuals across the North of England: older adults, people with dementia, physical, sensory or learning disabilities, mental health difficulties, acquired brain injuries and adults on the autistic spectrum.
Independent Tax co-director Stephen Outhwaite said: The Avalon group is a fantastic organisation that always puts its people and clients first.
We were introduced to Avalon and its services at an event last year, and both Gary and myself were really keen to find out more about them.
After visiting their Harrogate headquarters and meeting various members of the team we decided this would be a great charity to support.
Gary Brothers said: We were incredibly impressed by Avalon’s dedication and achievements and that’s why we have chosen it as out charity of the year.
Our aim over the next 12 months is to organise and undertake a number of fundraising activities in addition to helping them raise their own profile in the Harrogate area.
Avalon Chief Executive Larry Hollando said: We are delighted to be partnering with Independent Taxation this year and are very grateful to both Gary and Stephen for choosing us.
2014 is our 20th anniversary and we too have a number of events planned to help us mark this milestone.
Independent Tax and Forensic LLP now acts for more than 100 clients, ranging from sole traders to multi-nationals, high-profile sports stars and one of the world’s best-known entertainers.
The pair – who provide tax and risk management advice – have recently doubled their workforce, and are looking to broaden the firm’s reach to mainland Europe, assisting expats with a variety of tax issues.
