A Harrogate mum has put to bed any doubt about who is the fastest when it comes to changing a duvet!
Sally Haslewood was one hundreds of people at this year’s Great Knaresborough Bed race who took part in the charity fund-raising challenge set by the Yorkshire Linen Co, one of the event’s main sponsors.
The company – whose headquarters are based on Hornbeam Park, Harrogate – was offering a first prize of £250 worth of vouchers to whoever could put a cover on a double duvet in the fastest time.
Entrants for the challenge were asked to donate £1 in aid of The Yorkshire Linen Co’s chosen charity of the year, Bliss, which supports premature babies and their families.
Mum-of-two Sally initially set the quickest time, but was knocked back into second by her sister. However, not wanting to be beaten, she went back for a second time and regained pole position.
Ross Leventhal, Managing Director of The Yorkshire Linen Co, said:
Our duvet challenge proved to be one of the most popular side shows at the Bed Race, and we had more than 200 competitors vying for the quickest time.
It’s fair to say Sally was not to be beaten and nothing was going to stop her from claiming the vouchers – not even her sister!
We are delighted with how the challenge went and Sally was a worthy winner. We also raised several hundred pounds for Bliss.
The challenge was a lot harder than it looks, but having two children I’m quite adept at changing duvets. I couldn’t let my sister beat me and that’s why I went back for a second attempt.
I’m now looking forward to spending the vouchers and one purchase will certainly be a new duvet and cover!
