Newby Hall & Gardens is welcoming the Harrogate Autumn Flower Show back to the award‑winning estate this September (Friday 18–Sunday 20 September) as the event celebrates its 50th anniversary.
Organised by the North of England Horticultural Society (NEHS), the Harrogate Autumn Flower Show is a highlight of the horticultural calendar, with tickets offering visitors the chance to enjoy both the event itself and Newby Hall’s historic house, award-winning gardens and family-friendly experiences.
First held in Harrogate in 1976, Harrogate Autumn Flower Show moved to Newby Hall five years ago and attracts more than 30,000 visitors annually.
This year’s programme features world‑class floral displays, fruit and vegetable competitions and live demonstrations, alongside a major new installation inside Newby Hall itself. Acclaimed floral designer and TV garden expert Jonathan Moseley will transform the historic interiors with Grain & Grandeur – The Harvest Ball, a celebration of autumn’s abundance that will be on show throughout the house for the duration of the event.
Culinary celebrations will be led by celebrity chef and regional food champion Stephanie Moon, who will create a series of 1970s‑inspired seasonal dishes in one of Newby’s kitchen gardens. The space is being opened exclusively for the show’s anniversary by the Compton family.

Internationally recognised for its Chippendale interiors, Newby Hall is one of the UK’s finest Adam houses. Flower show tickets include entry to its 25 acres of award‑winning gardens, featuring one of Europe’s largest double herbaceous borders, the newly restored Edwardian rock garden recently reopened by Gyles Brandreth, and a woodland walk. Families can also enjoy the adventure playground, miniature railway and permanent exhibitions of dolls’ houses and teddy bears.
Advance day tickets are £24 for adults (rising to £29 after 2 September). Children under 16 and carers go free. Tickets are available at www.flowershow.org.uk
