On the 31st July 2011, Tim Parish aims to complete the Ironman UK at Bolton.
The Ironman consists of a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile cycle ride and then 26.2 mile run. All this must be completed in a 17 hour cut off time.
Tim is a local Harrogate 29 year old and a Petty Officer Aircraft Engineer in the Royal Navy based in Yeovil and Portsmouth. He has served on numerous occasions in both Iraq and Afghanistan with the Commando Helicopter Force. He returns to Harrogate every weekend to see his family and friends where he went to Harrogate Grammar as a young lad.
The road to Ironman has been a long one for him and he is aiming to complete this in aid of two fantastic charities, The Prostate Cancer Charity and the Royal Navy & Royal Marines Charity. Choosing prostate cancer charity as is this has affected Tim’s close family and the Royal Navy and Royal Marines charity due to actively serving with the Commando Helicopter Force.
This is by no means his first event of this type having previously completed in the past the London Marathon, the Coniston Standard Distance Triathlon and the Bala Half Ironman. As part of the training for the Ironman he has also completed various other triathlons this year and has raised approx £2500 for the Prostate Cancer charity. The Ironman however will be by far his biggest challenge yet!
He will also be representing the Royal Navy Triathlon of which he is a member and he will be proudly racing in his Royal Navy tri-suit.
