Harrogate Grammar School in the top 5% of schools nationally

Minister of State for Schools, Nick Gibb MP has congratulated Harrogate Grammar School on being in the top 5% of schools nationally.

Harrogate Grammar School ranks in the top 5% of schools nationally using the Progress 8 measure.

Nick Gibb wrote: I would like to congratulate you, your staff and your pupils for the high levels of progress your pupils are making and the high standard of achievement of your school in the English Baccalaureate in 2016.

Your school’s results, as published on 19 January, show that you are amongst the top five per cent of schools in terms of the progress your pupils make between key stage 2 and the end of key stage 4, using the Progress 8 measure.

Your school is also amongst the top state-funded schools in England for the percentage of pupils achieving the core academic subjects included in the English Baccalaureate. These subjects are vital for giving pupils the best start in life and ensuring they have the widest range of opportunities available to them.

Thank you for your work in producing such high standards and congratulations again to you and your staff for your hard work and professionalism.

Headteacher Richard Sheriff said: This acknowledgement of the wonderful achievements of our young people is appreciated as is the thanks to the dedicated and talented teachers and support staff who make that achievement possible. We are particularly proud of the fact that not only do our students achieve outstanding outcomes they also make outstanding progress with students of all abilities achieving excellent outcomes.
