Julian Smith MP attends meeting with Pateley Bridge Town Council to discuss ambulance response times

16 November 2016

Julian Smith MP attended a meeting on Friday afternoon with Pateley Bridge Town Council to discuss ambulance provision and response times in the area. Having recently met with Yorkshire Ambulance Service Chief Executive, Rod Barnes, at Pateley Bridge Ambulance Station this was an opportunity to speak with the Town Council members and hear their perspective on the matter. At the meeting Mr Smith and the Town Council also heard from a Unison Branch Officer within YAS, who spoke about the A&E Transformation programme, and a First Responder who is based in Pateley Bridge and was there to provide an update on the pressures on volunteers.

This is an issue that I am very aware of and I am taking an active interest in following concerning reports earlier this year about the ambulance service’s slow response times.

It is reassuring to see YAS, the local authorities and others involved with ambulance provision all working together to address these serious problems – however, I remain concerned and I will continue to monitor the situation closely.
