North Yorkshire Police is urging the public to help them trace a wanted man.

Stuart David Atkinson, aged 49, of Lower Dunsforth, is being sought in connection with an attempted robbery in Harrogate.

A 47-year-old local man sustained cuts and bruising to his face when he was attacked on St Andrew’s Avenue by a man demanding money on Sunday 2 December 2012.

Officers have been making extensive enquiries to trace Stuart Atkinson since the incident and are now appealing to the public to help their search.

Atkinson is described as white, around 6ft tall, with a medium build, blue eyes and a shaved head.

Temporary Chief Inspector Sarah Sanderson, of Harrogate Safer Neighbourhood Team, said:

If anyone knows where Stuart Atkinson is please contact the police or Crimestoppers as soon as possible.

We need to speak to him in connection with a serious offence and will keep looking until we find him.

If you are helping Mr Atkinson to evade the police, then you are committing an offence and face being arrested yourself.

Anyone who can help the police to locate Stuart Atkinson is urged to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101 – select option 1 – and pass information to the Force Control Room.

If you wish to remain anonymous, Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111.
