Incident at Forest Lane crossing being investigated

The British Transport Police are currently dealing with an incident at the Forest Lane railway crossing in Harrogate. (7 Sept 12 at 09:02)

Transport Police have confirmed that the woman involved in the incident was struck by a train.

A British Transport Police (BTP) spokesperson said:

BTP officers are currently dealing with an incident at Forest Lane Crossing, near Forest Lane in Harrogate, after receiving reports of a female being struck by a train.

BTP and North Yorkshire officers are currently at the scene dealing with the incident, which was reported to BTP at 8.02.

The female, believed to be approximately 27 years of age, has suffered head injuries. She was treated at the scene by paramedics from North Yorkshire Ambulance Service and has now been taken to Harrogate Hospital.

Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The lines were handed back to Network Rail at 08.56

 

Update (18:00 7 Sept) – The woman has been transferred to Leeds hospital and she is in a stable condition. There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances.
