This September the Mercer Art Gallery, Harrogate will be putting on show the ever popular Harrogate open exhibition, with a prize fund of £1,000 generously sponsored by the Friends of the Mercer Art Gallery
Jane Sellars, Curator of Art for Harrogate Borough Council, is encouraging artists in the Harrogate district to bring in their latest work for the Open, Jane said:
This is your chance to have your work shown in Harrogate’s prestigious Mercer Art Gallery. You could win a prize – a top prize of £400, runner up £200, a highly commended award of £50 or you could win the People’s Prize £100, voted for by our visitors. There’s the opportunity to sell your work and an invitation to a Mercer private view. You might be doing A Level Art at college, or maybe you have been painting for decades; whoever you are, don’t miss out on taking part in the biggest and best Open Art Exhibition in North Yorkshire.
The selectors will be Adam King, local artist and winner of the Harrogate Open 2010, Caroline Krzesinska, freelance art curator, and Jane Sellars. The submission dates, when artists are invited to deliver their work to the Mercer, are Wednesday 5 to Sunday 9 September 2012, so make sure of your application form now.
