Police investigate Knaresborough metal theft

Knaresborough police are investigating after metal was stolen from the roof of a local building.

At around 11.55pm on Tuesday 12 June 2012, a group of men were seen stripping lead from the top of Knaresborough House on High Street.

Police were called and thanks to a rapid response by officers one of the suspects, a 20-year-old man from Harrogate, was arrested at the scene.

He is currently on police bail as enquiries into the incident continue.

Officers are appealing for anyone who witnessed the theft to come forward.

PC Stephen Bromley, of Knaresborough Safer Neighbourhood Team, said:

There has been a rise in metal thefts recently and the police are running a number of initiatives to tackle the issue.
