A Harrogate PR director is celebrating after scooping national and international awards for her blogging expertise.
Karyn Fleeting is the managing director at Harrogate PR agency Tinderbox Media, which specialises in online PR and business blogging. In the past month she has won a Cosmopolitan Blog Award and a Plutus Blog Award for her personal finance blog Miss Thrifty (www.miss-thrifty.co.uk), which offers advice on saving money and living well for less.
The Cosmopolitan Blog Awards aim to seek out “the best of the blogosphere”. The Miss Thrifty Blog was shortlisted by the judges from more than 160,000 nominations and, after readers were invited to vote for their favourites, was named Best Lifestyle Blog of 2011 at an awards ceremony in London.

The Miss Thrifty Blog also received international acclaim at the recent Financial Blogger Conference in Chicago, when it was named as the Best International Personal Finance Blog in America’s annual Plutus Awards. The Plutus Awards recognise the best financial products, services and blogs, and the win is the first time that a UK blog has scooped a prize.
Karyn Fleeting said:
At Tinderbox Media we make a point of practising what we preach, and all our team members are keen bloggers and online innovators. That said, I am thrilled to have won these two amazing awards, against stiff competition. Both awards were voted upon by the public and, from a PR and marketing perspective, this level of recognition serves to demonstrate the benefits of blogging.
The Miss Thrifty Blog launched in 2008 and has been featured by The Daily Telegraph, The Times, The Sunday Times, The Independent and the BBC World Service, amongst others.
