MEP Nathan Gill Speaks At UKIP’s Harrogate & Knaresborough Branch (for immediate release) The forthcoming referendum on the UK’s membership of the European Union was one of the topics covered by an MEP at a political meeting held in Harrogate. Nathan Gill, the UKIP MEP for Wales, was the guest speaker at the party’s Harrogate & Knaresborough branch meeting, held at the Ascot House Hotel. Mr Gill, who was born in East Yorkshire, told the audience how he first got involved in politics and of his subsequent election campaigns and going head to head in TV debates with Plaid Cymru leader, Leanne Wood. Last year, Mr Gill was made leader of the Party in Wales, and, next year, will be fighting for a seat in the Welsh Assembly. Alan Henderson, chairman of UKIP Harrogate & Knaresborough, said: “I would like to thank Nathan for taking the time out of his hectic schedule to attend our meeting. “His visit was very much appreciated by members and non member alike, and he gave a fascinating insight into the functions of the European Union and its wastefulness. “He also gave us his views on the EU referendum promised by David Cameron, and how, if the UK voted to leave, it would give other countries the strength to hold their own.” The meeting also heard from UKIP county councillor David Simister, who gave an update on the authority’s proposals to introduce parking charges in Harrogate town centre on a Sunday and evenings.
