9 December 2011

Hospital

The Care Quality Commission (CQC), the independent regulator of all health and social care services in England, have published the results of an unannounced inspection of Harrogate District Hospital in October.

The inspectors spoke to staff and patients on wards at Harrogate District Hospital and received glowing feedback with comments including “brilliant”; “the ward seems highly organised” and that staff are “kind” and “helpful”.

The following checks showed that the Trust is meeting each of the standards that the government say patients have the right to expect:

1. Standards of treating people with respect and involving them in their care;

2. Standards of providing care, treatment and support that meets people’s needs;

3. Standards of caring for people safely and protecting them from harm;

4. Standards of staffing; and

5. Standards of management.

Richard Ord, Chief Executive said:

The report is extremely positive and commends the quality of care given by staff, including the maintenance of privacy and dignity and safeguarding the welfare of those who use our services.

I am extremely proud of the outstanding results contained in the report and I would like to say thank you to all members of staff and volunteers as the wonderful feedback received from patients and relatives is testament to their hard work and dedication.
