Home care provider awarded approval from national regulator

1 September 2011

A new provider of high quality home care services to elderly people has recently received approval from the national regulator – the Care Quality Commission (“CQC”). Carefound, a locally owned and managed company is based on the edge of Harrogate, and is expected to create up to 40 jobs across the area over the next 2 years.

Carefound aims to offer a unique home care service to elderly people enabling Clients to continue to live independently in the comfort of their own home whilst maintaining the highest quality of life achievable. The service is available throughout local towns and villages including Harrogate, Wetherby, Boroughbridge, Knaresborough and Thirsk.

Director, Oliver Stirk, has had involvement with various companies in the elderly care sector including those specialised in developing and operating retirement housing, assisted living facilities and residential care / nursing homes. It was this experience that inspired Oliver to establish the Carefound home care service which he believes offers a truly flexible, affordable alternative.

Oliver commented:

We are delighted that after much hard work and planning we have received approval from the CQC. We believe that there

is a real need for a new care concept where the level of service and professionalism, including Client support and communication, is as we would expect of any other service purchased during our lives.

We also recognise that the process of considering elderly care, including how to pay for it, has become an increasingly complex

process for elderly people and their families, and ensuring that we are able to offer support throughout the process of seeking help is key.

As the elderly population continues to expand, it is hoped that the elderly care sector can be an important source of employment in the future.

Oliver added:

In a time when job creation is low, we are busy building a great professional Home Care team, providing each member of staff with an opportunity to develop a genuine long-term career. This process is of the upmost importance in ensuring that we offer excellent continuity of care to our Clients.

Having been appointed to the role of Home Care Manager in May 2011, Philippa Moorse is responsible for the day-to-day management of the home care service provided by Carefound to its Clients.

Philippa commented:

Anybody who joins our team must be compassionate, motivated, patient in difficult circumstances and take pride in what they do. We are very pleased to have already established a great professional home care team, which we will selectively grow over time, enabling us to help our Clients remain at home and enjoy the highest quality of life achievable.

The services provided by Carefound include basic help in the home, companionship and personal care, and its home care team is trained in specialist conditions such as Dementia. The flexible service ranges from 1 hour to 24 hours per day, 7 days a week, including bank holidays, and can also encompass 24-hour Live-In Care services.
