Support Leeds Children’s Hospital: Bid on Bear Sculptures this September

23 August 2023

Leeds Hospitals Charity is inviting Harrogate businesses and arts enthusiasts to provide a home for a paw-some giant bear sculpture following Leeds Bear Hunt 2023, a large-scale wild art trail that has seen 85 bears set loose across Leeds city centre this summer.

35 giant bear sculptures, all uniquely designed by local artists and representing inspiring young patients, will go under the hammer on 28th September to raise funds for Leeds Hospitals Charity.

The money generated from the auction will be used to fund crucial projects at Leeds Children’s Hospital that improve the lives of its inspiring young patients receiving treatment and care. Leeds Hospitals Charity has funded a variety of vital projects at the hospital from ground-breaking research projects and innovative diagnostic technologies to specialist play staff and Christmas gifts.

You can support the vital cause by registering to attend at the live auction in person here or registering to bid in the online auction here https://lbh.wildinartauctions.com/

The online auction will run in sync with ‘in the room’ bids at the Leeds City Museum led by Auctioneer and TV Personality Charles Hanson.

Paul Watkins, Director of Fundraising at Leeds Hospitals Charity, said:

We hope you’ve got your bidding paddles at the ready because Leeds Bear Hunt auction is going to be an evening you won’t want to miss. The purchase of a bear will help us to continue our vital work at Leeds Children’s Hospital and ensure the hospital can continue to provide exceptional treatment and care to poorly babies and children.

The bears will be on the move across Leeds on Sunday 27th September as Leeds Hospitals Charity will be holding a large-scale vibrant parade in the city centre to celebrate the success of the Bear Hunt and the inspiring young patients at Leeds Children’s Hospital.

Friends and families will also have a chance to bid their favourite bear sculpture goodbye at its Farewell Weekend on 22nd – 24th September taking place in Leeds City Centre. The event presents an opportunity to view the works of artists from Leeds and beyond, all while raising funds for Leeds Hospitals Charity.
