The North Yorkshire Local Resilience Forum met today to brief the media (23 February 2021).

  • Continued reduction of infection rates and cases in hospital
  • Infection rates down from 96.6 to 84 per 100,000 for North Yorkshire
  • Hospital cases down by 32 over 7-day to 245 for North Yorkshire

Testing

No cases of concern of South African variant in North Yorkshire according to testing.

PCR testing capacity remains good.

Now looking to vaccinate people over 65 and long term conditions

Schools

Primary schools all set to re-open on 8 March, relatively little change, twice-weekly testing of teachers

Secondary schools top open from the 8 March in a phase approach. Plans to test all pupils prior to return.

Facemasks to be worn when it is not possible to distance with a review over Easter.
