Belzona’s Training and Distribution Opening Ceremony

9 April 2018

Since establishing in 1952, Belzona has become a leader in providing industrial protective coatings and repair composites. Having celebrated a 66th anniversary in the industry this year, Belzona shows no signs of slowing down, with the grand opening of a brand-new state of the art Training and Distribution Centre situated at their head office in Harrogate.

The new £5 million facility will more than double Belzona’s current floor space of the existing training facility, adding around 40,000 sq. ft of total floor area and 4000 pallet spaces. The new building will also be featuring a new fully equipped presentation suite as well as a new practical training/demonstrating classroom, showing Belzona’s continued focus on training and raising global application standards. In 2017, over 40 courses were delivered to over 175 delegates from Distributorships located around the world.

David Blackwell, Engineering Director at Belzona Harrogate commented:

Here at Belzona we believe that training is vital to success. Training empowers people to meet the demands made of them in the work environment and prepares them for the unexpected situations that life will throw at them.

Belzona’s practical training courses are designed to enhance the theoretical aspects of Belzona solutions by placing them in a practical context.

The official opening ceremony of the Training and Distribution Centre took place on the 5 April 2018. This will include a ribbon cutting ceremony by Belzona’s longest serving Director, Malcolm Yeadon, who recently announced his retirement after 50 years at the company. Further to celebrating the people within Belzona, Malcolm will be joined by two of the company’s youngest employees, who embarked on the ‘Training and Development Programme’ created to give school leavers an active alternative to get them onto the career ladder.

After 66 years in the industry, Belzona is still a family owned business. However, despite the size of Belzona’s organisation, with an annual revenue of around £20 million and 150 employees, there is still a large commitment to the local community through schemes such as the 1 per cent volunteering scheme and raising money for charities around the Harrogate area. In addition, Belzona exports to over 160 countries worldwide, whilst still manufacturing at the head office in Harrogate, providing long-lasting, quality repair and maintenance solutions.

This is a major investment in the future of Belzona, which will greatly benefit the local community, the distributors from across the globe, as well as the vast number of Belzona users.
