Harrogate sports business expert appointed IoD Ambassador for North Yorkshire

Ambassadorial Role! Harrogate businessman Tony Webster, who has been appointed an Institute of Directors’ (IoD) ambassador for North Yorkshire

A Harrogate sports business expert with 25-years’ experience at boardroom level has been appointed as the Institute of Directors’ (IoD) newest ambassador for North Yorkshire.

Tony Webster, whose Wayfinder consultancy businesses is based on the edge of the spa town and specialises in business turnaround and change management, will be representing and promoting the IoD across the region, as well as helping give local firms a national voice.

Mr Webster – who has three non-executive directorships, including one with Harrogate-based energy company CNG – has recently been engaged to sell a Championship football club on behalf of its owners. He is also studying for a MSc in Sporting Directorship at Salford University, Media City.

Jon Geldart, chairman of the North Yorkshire branch, said:

I’m delighted that Tony has accept this position of IoD ambassador for North Yorkshire.

He brings with him a wealth of experience and his knowledge of, and passion for, the business of sport, made him a perfect candidate for this role.

Tony will be working alongside a network of other ambassadors, each expert in their own field, to promote the IoD across this region.

Mr Webster said:

I’m very much looking forward to this role, particularly engaging with businesses throughout North Yorkshire and being a part of a team of ‘ambassadors’.

In addition to his non-executive director roles, Mr Webster owns two award-winning fish and chips shops, in Helmsley and York.

Other IoD ambassadors include Andrew Palmer, chief executive of North of England Excellence and North Yorkshire director Peter Wilkinson.
