Dancers invited to square up to cancer

5 October 2015

Dancers are being invited to ‘Square Up to Cancer’ at a fundraising party on Sunday, 11 October 2015, at Darley Memorial Hall.

The square dancing event has been organised by Gene Turner and Cliff Anderton, who are ‘callers’ at Harmony Squares Square Dance Club, which is based in Clifford, West Yorkshire.

All proceeds from the party will go to Yorkshire Cancer Research, a Harrogate-based charity that aims to tackle local cancer problems by funding projects across the county.

Gene said:

Several people in the group have been affected by cancer so we wanted to do something for a good cause and started planning this a year ago. It’s part of a national square dancing campaign called ‘Square Up to Cancer’, which encourages groups to organise an event to raise money for a cancer charity of their choice.

We’re hoping that everyone, from beginners to more experienced dancers, will come along and support us and laugh and dance while raising vital funds for Yorkshire Cancer Research.

The party will take place from 1pm to 4.30pm. Tickets cost £7.50 with free entry for under 15s.
