Collision between bicycle and car in Bishop Monkton

Police are investigating a collision between a bicycle and a car in Bishop Monkton.

It occurred at the crossroads of Knaresborough Road, Hungate and Moor Road at around 6pm on Thursday 3 July 2014 – police have identified a key witness they would like to speak to.

Officers are trying to trace a woman with brown hair tied back in a ponytail, who was walking an Alsatian-type dog close to the scene of the collision, .

The rider of the cycle, a 15-year-old local girl was airlifted to Leeds General Infirmary after sustaining life-changing injuries when she collided with a blue Audi estate car, which was travelling along Knaresborough Road towards Ripon.

Officers are urging the woman walking the dog or any other witnesses to the collision to come forward with information.
