A chef from BMI The Duchy Hospital in Harrogate has helped raise money for Cancer Research UK with a ‘Soak the Chef’ event in support of its Big Health Pledge campaign.
Staff from the hospital soaked Head Chef Owen Grinder, 28, from Leeds, with a bucket full of ice cold water, and raised £120 for the charity.
The Big Health Pledge: Cook Book, which contains recipes from 33 chefs or catering staff from BMI Healthcare hospitals around the country, including one by Owen, was also sold at the hospital, and Owen’s recipe of Salmon and Sweet Potato Fish Cakes on Kale Spinach and Avocado Topped with Cress and Walnut Pesto was served in the restaurant.
Owen Grinder, Head Chef at BMI The Duchy Hospital, said: Soak the Chef’ was a lot of fun and it was a great way to get the staff and patients involved – they seemed to really enjoy watching me getting soaked! The recipe that we served in the restaurant went down really well and I’m pleased that we managed to sell so many cook books for charity.
Jacqui Ritchie, Executive Director at BMI The Duchy Hospital, said: The Big Health Pledge has shown that living a healthier lifestyle doesn’t have to be boring, and with the right recipes you can make delicious and nutritionally balanced meals. I want to say a big thank you to everyone at the hospital who helped raise money for Cancer Research UK, particularly Owen who took one for the team.
