The 12th Theakstons Old Peculier Crime Writing Festival launch party took place at Brown’s Courtroom, Covent Garden (7 May 2014).
The cream of the UK crime writing fraternity, including bestselling authors, agents and publishers gathered for the London celebrations.
Authors included SJ Watson, who’s debut ‘Before I Go To Sleep’ became an international bestseller, adapted into a film starring Nicole Kidman and Colin Firth for release later this year.
Vera and Shetlands author Ann Cleeves attended, alongside bestsellers Mark Billingham, Dreda Say Mitchell and Martyn Waites, and title sponsor, Simon Theakston, Executive Director of T&R Theakston.
Europe’s biggest celebration of the crime genre takes place between the 17-20 July, at the Old Swan Hotel, Harrogate.

The line-up includes Lynda La Plante, a Broadchurch TV special with actress Olivia Coleman and JK Rowling’s only UK appearance. Writing as Robert Galbraith, Rowling will be interviewed by Val McDermid.
