Harrogate businesses come together to take Christmas to kids in Hospital

21 December 2013

Children staying at Harrogate Hospital had a festive surprise on the 19th December, after receiving six giant sacks stuffed with presents that had been donated by local businesses as part of a pass the parcel campaign.

Integrated marketing agency, Raw Creative, tested the festive spirit of local businesses by delivering them each a present-filled sack so that they could add a gift and pass it on to a company of their choosing for them to do the same.

The whereabouts of the sacks was tracked through Twitter using the hashtag #HGpasstheparcel, before eventually being hunted down and delivered to the Hospital.

Over 21 businesses participated, including: CNG Ltd, The Kimberley Hotel, Indigo Furniture, Sherrington’s Estate Agents, Fodder, Bridgfords Estate Agents, Dacre Son & Hartley, Verity Frearson Estate Agents, Knight Frank Estate Agents, LMDC Espresso Bar, Kempston Parkes Chartered Surveyors, Bebabo Salon, James Brindley Interior Design, MYA, Little Gym, 4 Seasons, Premier Express, Helen Cole Beauty Therapy and Rocca Boutique.

Kirstyn Pollard, Managing Director of Raw, said:

We just wanted to say a huge thank you to all of the local businesses that participated in our campaign and that showed a huge amount of community and Christmas spirit. We are so pleased that the kids at Harrogate Hospital enjoyed the presents and had fun and games during what is an otherwise difficult time.

Anne Riach, Ward Manager, said:

We would like to say a big thank you to Raw Creative and to all the other businesses that participated in this campaign and brought Christmas to the children. It is heart-warming to know that so many businesses wanted to get involved – the kids absolutely loved it.

Businesses were given a unique code and encouraged to use social media to keep track of the parcels and their progress.
