First class! MP’s praise for posties in Harrogate sorting office visit

6 December 2013

Andrew Jones, MP for Harrogate & Knaresborough, visited Royal Mail’s Harrogate delivery office this morning to pass on Christmas wishes and encouragement to the postmen and women at their busiest time of the year.

Andrew was shown round the office by local Delivery Office Manager, Gary Abbott, and was introduced to the postmen and women who are working hard sorting and delivering all cards and parcels in the Harrogate area in the run-up to Christmas. It is a visit Andrew has undertaken every year since becoming our area’s MP.

Andrew said:

It was great to meet the dedicated, hard-working Royal Mail postmen and women at Harrogate delivery office again and to see first-hand just how much effort they put into delivering at this time of year.

Postmen and women do such an important job particularly at this time of year when they connect families and friends with one another. We all owe them our gratitude and I wish them all the best over the busy festive period.

Gary Abbott, Royal Mail Delivery Office Manager at Harrogate said:

Christmas is the busiest time of year for Royal Mail. Our people pull out all the stops throughout the year to ensure mail is delivered quickly, but even more so over the busy festive period. We are grateful that Andrew came along to see the hard work that goes on behind the scenes.

Our people do a fantastic job at this time of year to ensure that friends and families stay in touch through their Christmas greetings and gifts. We’d like to remind our customers to post early so that friends and family have longer to enjoy their Christmas greetings!

Andrew will be visiting staff at Knaresborough sorting office on Friday 13 December 2013.
