Frank Bruno’s still coming to Harrogate!

5 December 2013

Frank Bruno is appearing in Harrogate next year – just not where first thought.

It had been previously announced that he was appearing at the Bilton WMC, but due to an error in the booking, that will no longer happen. He will however, be appearing at the Manhattan club.

The Manhattan Club had already booked Frank, although only just started advertising it this week.

Alan Huddart, Club Treasurer at the Bilton WMC said:

Due to an error on the part of the agent we use, the date was confirmed to Bilton WMC by our agent, but some miscommunication between our agent and Frank Bruno’s manager meant that the event could not go ahead on the date we had agreed.

This was totally outside the control of Bilton WMC and we would like to apologise to everyone who bought tickets. Refunds will be given upon production of the tickets at the Club.

Bruno is a British boxing legend and a former World Champion heavy weight boxer.

In 1989, Frank challenged Mike Tyson for the unified world Heavyweight title. After being shaken in the opening seconds, Frank finished the first round by rocking Tyson with a left hook.

On 24 September 1994, Oliver McCall beat Lennox Lewis with a shock second round knockout victory at Wembley Arena, and, after outpointing Larry Holmes, he came to England to defend the WBC title against Frank.

On 2 September 1995, Bruno finally became World champion by outpointing McCall over twelve rounds

Frank is to appear at an ‘Evening with Frank’ on Friday 14th March 2014 at the Manhattan Club.

Tickets will be on sale from Monday 9th December 2103, however if you wish to reserve any tickets please email or call for further details.

General Tickets £25, with VIP tickets at £45 which includes a welcome drink, signed photo with Frank with the chance to mingle and have a chat with him, reserved seating.

Credit needs be given to both the Bilton WMC and the Manhattan Club, although the mix-up with the booking is unfortunate, both venues are genuinely working hard to bring good value and interesting nights out.
