Pedestrian receives fatal injuries during collision near Tadcaster

Police officers investigating a fatal road traffic collision on the A64 are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

It occurred just after 7pm on Monday 11 November 2013, on the eastbound carriageway at Bilbrough, near Tadcaster.

The collision involved a BMW car and a woman pedestrian, who suffered fatal injuries. She was taken to York District Hospital where she was sadly pronounced dead.

We are not yet in a position to release any further details about the deceased woman.

The woman driving the BMW was not injured in the collision.

The A64 was closed for approximately six hours following the incident.

Traffic Sergeant Yvonne Taylor, of the Force’s Roads Policing Group, said:

If you were travelling on the A64 around the time of the collision and saw either the woman who was a pedestrian or the BMW, I ask that you come forward and contact the police straight away.
