Take a Guy to Tockwith this Bonfire Night

17 October 2013

Visitors to the annual Tockwith bonfire and firework display are being invited to bring a guy with them this year.

The popular event, which is organised by Tockwith & District Show committee to help raise funds for August’s agricultural show, will feature a competition to find the best homemade guy.

Children – and adults – will then be invited to take their guys down to the bonfire for them to be thrown onto the fire prior to it being lit.

This year’s event will be held at the showground on Cattal Moor Lane on November 5. Visitors with guys should arrive promptly when the gates open at 6pm for judging to begin at 6.15.

The ceremonial lighting of the fire will take place at 6.30pm followed by a firework display at 7pm.

As in previous years, the committee will be serving hot food and drinks as well as traditional bonfire goodies with local sausages, hot pork sandwiches, homemade soup, cakes and other refreshments on offer.

The event is open to everyone. Entrance is £3.50 for adults with children under 12 free.
