Engage Mutual staff take on Abbey Dash for Alzheimer’s

24 September 2013

A team of 37 runners from Harrogate-based Engage Mutual are donning their running shoes and preparing to pound the pavements for Leeds Abbey Dash on 17 November 2013, to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society.

The team, with varying running abilities, will take part in the 10 km race from Leeds city centre to Kirkstall Abbey and back in order to raise money for the charity which helps people affected by dementia.

With an ambitious target to raise £2,500 for Alzheimer’s Society, one of the mutual’s 2013 charities, the group is also planning a number of extra fundraising events in the lead-up to the race.

Speaking about the run, Kate McIntyre, team captain and health director at Engage Mutual, said:

It’s great to have so many people from the business taking part. We’ve been overwhelmed with the level of support from our colleagues, who are giving up their free time to train and to raise money for such a worthy cause.

Not only does this provide an excellent opportunity for us to come together, have some fun and get fit, but it will see us raise money for a charity with which we have a strong affinity.

Nuffield Health, which has a gym on Hornbeam Park in Harrogate, has also offered its support to the Engage Mutual team by providing complimentary gym passes together with nutritional, training and physiotherapy advice.
