A market share league table has shown the growth of commercial gas specialist CNG as it bypasses energy giants in meter points installed and amount of gas supplied to the commercial sector.

Cornwall Energy’s rankings of the top service providers in gas for business showed Harrogate-based CNG for the first time this year and placed it ahead of major energy names Scottish Power and EDF Energy, twice.

CNG supplies more units (Therms) and more meter points to businesses than these well-known competitors and it is a significant marker as to the company’s success as well as its migration into the consciousness of service savvy consumers.

CNG MD Jacqui Hall commented:

CNG has been growing steadily for the last few years. Our increase in market share and appearance on this list is testament to the work we have put in to comprehensive sales provision and delivering the service customers want.

Customers are increasingly seeking alternative providers outside of the Big Six and brand names as they recognise the competitive advantages of smaller companies like CNG that can provide a more personable, higher quality service at competitive prices.

Cornwall Energy launched its Market Share Surveys of electricity and gas supply in Great Britain in 2005. They are now established as the reference point for information on these opaque but fast moving markets. The Surveys consist of updates on national and regional shares of the household energy market held by the Big Six and their competitors.
