Theakston’s renew long term sponsorship deal with Ripon Rugby Club

8 October 2011

Ripon Rugby Club’s senior teams are sporting a brand new strip this season – thanks to a leading independent Yorkshire brewery.

The club, which is 125 years old, has just signed a new long term deal with T&R Theakston Ltd, which will see the Masham-based brewers continue to have its name emblazoned across the front of the players’ shirts.

Ripon Rugby Club Chairman Andy Proud, T&R Theakston Ltd Sales Development Manager Barry Gibb and T&R Theakston Ltd  Executive Director Simon Theakston

T&R Theakston Ltd executive director Simon Theakston said:

We are proud to be continuing our long term relationship with Ripon Rugby Club through our renewed sponsorship deal.

Ripon Rugby Club was our first commercial sponsorship in a deal struck in the 1950s.

The new kit looks fantastic, and we are thrilled the rugby shirts will continue to carry our name.

Brand association is a very important part of our marketing strategy and Ripon Rugby Club provides an outstanding opportunity for us to communicate further our company’s name and brands.

I’m delighted it will be our beers the players and supporters will enjoy after each hard-fought home game.

Andy Proud, Ripon Rugby Club chairman, said:

Our association with Theakston’s must be one of the oldest partnerships in Rugby Union. We are incredibly proud of our continued links to the brewery and our players always wear their shirts with pride.

Once again we will be raising a pint glass of Theakston’s to toast this important relationship.

Barry Gibb, Sales Development Manager for Theakston’s and also a member of Ripon Rugby Club, said:

I’m delighted to have a foot in both camps when it comes to this sponsorship deal. I can’t imagine Ripon Rugby Club sporting anything but the Theakston name.
