Vauxhall Motors 0 Harrogate Town 1

28 September 2011

Harrogate Town FCOnce again, Town manager Simon Weaver praised his side’s team spirit and never say die attitude,as they overcame two injuries and a sending off,to record an important win over the Motormen.

Town, with both Lee Elam and Peter Bore looking dangerous on the flanks, began brightly.

Unfortunately, they suffered a severe blow in the sixteenth minute when Adam Nowakowski sustained a leg injury which necessitated a visit to hospital.

An Ian Ross back header to his keeper almost let in Leighton McGivern but Zac Jones saved the day.

The second half started badly for Town when after three minutes classy striker Paul Brayson had to limp off with a pulled hamstring.

Just when it appeared that Town would complete their third consecutive match without a goal,Lee Elam cut in from the left, turned the home defence and beat Scott Tynan with a right foot shot that took a slight deflection.

Although Ian Ross was shown a red card after a second bookable offence,Town with Richard Pell once again commanding in defence, comfortably played out the remaining twelve minutes to gain a win which escalates them to eleventh in the table.
