Man now charged and due to appear at Magistrates Court following knife incident at Harrogate takeaway

Oceans11 HarrogateThe 41-year-old man arrested in connection with the investigation has this morning (Monday 11 July 2011) been charged with three offences: two counts of wounding with intent and one count of possessing an offensive weapon.

He is due to appear at Harrogate Magistrates’ Court this morning.

North Yorkshire Police are investigating an incident at a takeaway restaurant in Harrogate in which two members of staff were attacked by a man armed with a knife.

It occurred at Oceans 11 on Kings Road at about 8pm on Saturday 9 July 2011.

A man entered the premises and after a brief conversation, he allegedly produced a knife and attacked two men – the shop owner and a co-worker – causing minor injuries.

The attack was seen to spill into the street before the police quickly arrived and arrested the man with the knife.

The shop owner, aged 41 and the co-worker, 26, attended Harrogate District Hospital with injuries consistent with a knife attack. They have since been discharged following treatment.
