Two local ladies take part in their biggest charity challenge yet

Katja and Jay

For the third year in a row Jay Kelly and Katja Gottschalk are challenging themselves to raise money for a UK charity.

Previous efforts have been a 10,000ft skydive and training for and completing the Great North Run. This year’s challenge is the biggest yet! Jay and Katja have set themselves a target of raising £10k for the UK children’s charity ‘Action Medical Research in the next few months.

How are they going to do this?

Firstly they are having a Peruvian Charity Ball on Saturday 5th March 2011, The Old Swan Hotel, Harrogate. With an auction done by a well known local auctioneer, a comedian doing the comparing to entertain us through the night, raffle prizes, Peruvian 3 course dinner, photographer and a disco.

What could you do to support them?

Do you have any items that could be raffled, or better still, a prize with that extra flair that could be an enticing auction lot? Any support for this is very gratefully received. The event isn’t far away, so they are working swiftly on this now!

What else?

They are also selling unwanted items at a carboot, so if you are ready for a spring clean out, any donations welcome. (No hurry for this one, as they won’t be doing it until the weather perks up a bit!) The ‘Grand Finale’ for Jay and Katja’s fundraising challenge… Trekking up Machu Picchu in Peru, and following the Inca Trail in September.

Every tough mile trekked will help fund medical research to treat sick babies and tackle premature birth, to make life better for children with disabilities, and to target a group of rare diseases that together severely affect many forgotten children.
