Harrogate Railway

Harrogate Railway 2 – 0 Salford City

12 November 2012

Harrogate RailwayTwo second-half goals secured Harrogate Railway their first League home win of the season. In a first half when both sides created plenty of openings neither side could find a way past to opening the scoring. Two saves from home keeper Sam Dobbs legs kept Salford at bay whilst Ritchie Branagan was kept busy to keep out two long range efforts from Rail. Rail started the brightest in the second-half and it was in the 52nd minute they found a way through.

A half cleared corner was put in again by Colin Hunter and Liam Hardy glanced his header past the keeper inside the penalty area. Rail kept up the momentum and just after the hour mark they doubled their lead with a fantastic swerving effort from the edge of the area from Danny Hull. Rail kept the pressure up and the pressure told as Salford defender Jameel Ibel saw a second yellow for a pull back on Nathan Cartman. Sam Dobbs still had plenty to do with the remaining 20 minutes but Rail held out for a well deserved victory.
