Nigel Farage has announced that he is resigning as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Clacton. However, he intends to immediately run as a candidate in the subsequent by-election to win his seat back.
Farage has been under a formal investigation by the Parliamentary Standards Commissioner since May for failing to declare a £5 million gift from cryptocurrency billionaire Christopher Harborne. He faced further scrutiny over additional undeclared benefits—including security and social media staff—provided by convicted fraudster George Cottrell.
If found guilty of a serious rule breach, he faced a parliamentary suspension, which could have triggered an involuntary “recall petition” by voters.

So, after complaining about the Government wasting taxpayer money, Nigel Farage is triggering a by-election, costing the taxpayer hundreds of thousands of pounds to pump up his ego and dodge questions about his finances.
This isn’t about the people of Clacton, it never has been, and we all know it – as usual, it’s all about him. They’re being used as a human shield in a vanity stunt to buy time while the Parliamentary Committee on Standards investigation continues.
He’s rattled and thrashing out. I hope this farce is boycotted by every party that still believes politics is about putting constituents first.

The people of Clacton will be the judge of Nigel Farage’s record and political integrity, not the mainstream media or a kangaroo court in Parliament.
Nigel is putting his record directly to the electorate and asking the people of Clacton to decide.
The media and opposition parties don’t get to be judge, jury and executioner.
Personal Attacks
The media have published photographs and details of Nigel’s properties.
As a consequence, journalists have harassed his daughter at her home.
The targeting of Nigel demonstrates how far some are prepared to go.
He will need 24 hours security for the rest of his life.
The Establishment Against Reform
The establishment cannot beat Reform UK fairly at the ballot box, so it is seeking to change the rules of politics.
Examples include:
* Changes to the voting system.
* Changes to political donation rules.
* The cancellation of local elections.
* The introduction of votes at 16
They are using every lever they can to hold Reform UK back. Enough is enough.
Why Call a By-election?
Nigel is fighting this by-election so that the people of Clacton can deliver their verdict, not the establishment in Westminster.
Nigel is not running away from anything. He is running head-on towards the fight.

This vote is about whether ordinary people still have the power to stand up to an establishment that believes it can change the rules whenever it fears losing. This is a chance for the people of clacton to loudly express they want change from this broken system.
